Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Nursing Programs Director, the Assistant Nursing Programs Director provides assistance in the oversight of the instructional, curricular, operational, and personnel activities of the department and serves as liaison.
The Assistant Nursing Programs Director will represent the Nursing Programs Director and have signature authority, decision making status, attend meetings when the Nursing Programs Director is out of the office.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Ensure the quality of the curricula by monitoring the effectiveness of instruction and the assessment of program and course outcomes. Follow appropriate guidelines to implement changes for courses or degree programs.
2. Assist in the recruitment, interviewing, selection, hiring, orientation, supervision, and evaluation of full-time and adjunct faculty, work-study students, and support staff.
3. Support and promote teaching effectiveness and professional growth for staff and faculty through on-going staff development.
4. Support and promote student success associated with student recruitment, advising, and retention.
5. Mentor, remediate, and communicate student progress to facilitate student success.
6. Provide a safe environment for students and ensure security of assigned equipment, materials, and classrooms.
7. Serve as mediator when conflicts and/or disagreements occur with faculty, students, or staff.
8. Obtain information and prepare reports to be in compliance with educational, funding, IE, and accrediting agencies requirements. Adhere to prescribed deadlines.
9. Fulfill an instructional load and all associated duties required if applicable to area.
10. Establish and maintain external relationships, which benefit instruction, including business and industry, community, secondary and post-secondary institutions, and other appropriate agencies.
11. Ensure compliance of LCC, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools policies and procedures; ensure compliance with related accreditation and institutional effectiveness activities as pertaining to areas supervised.
12. Promote community involvement and support college programs in a positive manner.
13. Perform other duties assigned by the Nursing Programs Director, Dean of Health Sciences, and/or the Associate Vice-President for Instruction.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree with major in nursing and 3 years work experience.
Meet the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) required criteria to be able to teach within the discipline(s) of the department that they supervise and meet the appropriate accrediting agency requirements for the Assistant Nursing Programs Director position.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of three years of teaching experience in higher education settings or other relevant professional experience.

Physical Demands

Person must be able to walk, stand, lift, carry and bend.

Supervision Exercised

Full-time and adjunct faculty, department secretaries, clerks, lab instructors, student workers, and assistants.

Work Environment

Inside Work-in a well-lighted and air-conditioned area most of the time or Outside will be exposed to all types of weather, noise and vibration from equipment.
