Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The Carpenter reports directly to the Facilities Manager, and maintains, alters, and constructs wooden structures.

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities

1. Erects partition and scaffolding.
2. Repairs chairs, tables, desks, shelves, cabinets, etc.
3. Installs and repairs door locks.
4. Installs glass.
5. Cleans and maintains carpentry tools and equipment.
6. Lays floors, installs baseboards, moldings, etc.
7. Builds forms, fences and installs ceiling tile.
8. Repairs roofs.
9. Can interpret blue prints and drawings.
10. Performs masonry and concert work.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
12. Perform carpentry in renovations and construction projects.

Required Qualifications

Applicants will be considered if they agree to obtain their GED within a period of three years from date of employment.
Four years as full-time carpenter.

Preferred Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Certificates/Licenses

Employees driving a LCC motor vehicle must have a valid Texas Driver’s Licence.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must be able to follow instructions and must be self-motivated in carrying out and completing projects.
Knowledge of management practices. Knowledge of life safety code.
National Electic Code, E.P.A regulations,
A.D.A regulations and State Building Codes.

Physical Demands

Walking, standing, lifting, carrying, and bending.
Required to lift items weighing 50 pounds.
Must have good vision on both eyes with corrective lenses if needed.
Must have full use of both arms, hands, and legs.
Must have good hearing in both ears with a hearing aid if needed.

Supervision Exercised
Work Environment

Work beyond a normal workday and at varied work locations that may include the college south campus, which may include traveling from and to each campus; work outdoors with exposure to all types of weather conditions; be exposed to noise and vibration from operating machine.

Required to work safely and follow safety rules.

Take reasonable and prudent actions to prevent others from engaging in unsafe practices.

Immediate supervisor may assign other duties.
